We are seeking a highly skilled Orthopaedic Technician to join our team at the University of Alberta Hospital. As an Orthopaedic Technician, you will play a critical role in providing safe and effective care to patients with orthopaedic injuries or conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and traction equipment to provide optimal care for patients.
- Observe, monitor, and report changes in patients' physical, mental, and emotional states.
- Provide safe and effective quality care to patients, while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program.
- Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
- Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- Minimum 1 year emergency nursing experience required.
- Graduation from a recognized Orthopedic Technician Course.
- 2 years applicable med/surg experience may be considered.
- Recent nursing experience in a tertiary care facility Emergency Department.
- Recent acute/critical care experience in the last two years.
