Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Orthopaedic Technician to join our team at the University of Alberta Hospital. As an Orthopaedic Technician, you will play a critical role in providing safe and effective care to patients with orthopaedic injuries or conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and traction equipment to provide optimal care for patients.
  • Observe, monitor, and report changes in patients' physical, mental, and emotional states.
  • Provide safe and effective quality care to patients, while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to patients.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • Minimum 1 year emergency nursing experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduation from a recognized Orthopedic Technician Course.
  • 2 years applicable med/surg experience may be considered.
  • Recent nursing experience in a tertiary care facility Emergency Department.
  • Recent acute/critical care experience in the last two years.
