About the Role

The Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a highly skilled Orthopaedic Technician to join our team at the University of Alberta Hospital (UAH). As an Orthopaedic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing safe and effective care to patients with orthopaedic injuries or conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and traction equipment to ensure proper patient care.
  • Observe, monitor, report, and document changes in patients' physical, mental, and emotional states.
  • Provide safe and effective quality care to patients, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to make informed decisions and provide comprehensive patient care.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of emergency nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent assessment, organizational, and patient care skills.
  • Ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
