About the Role

We're seeking a skilled Underwriter II, Commercial Lines, to contribute to our growing team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and negotiate moderate to complex risks.
  • Apply effective pricing and underwriting strategies in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Quote, negotiate, sell, and authorize the acceptance of new business, renewals, and endorsements.
  • Participate in broker visits and industry functions to develop relationships.
  • Arrange reinsurance as needed.
  • Use computer systems for policy inquiry, electronic filing, and underwriting transactions.
  • Make recommendations to improve department efficiency.
  • Foster cooperative broker relationships to identify sales opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Completion of CIP designation (or progress towards) is an asset.
  • Strong track record of developing, mentoring, and coaching teammates.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and technical experience.
  • Initiative and ability to work under pressure.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools.
