Salary Starting At: $71,720.18

Position Overview
As a Compensation Payment Analyst, you will be responsible for calculating the average earnings basis to ensure timely processing of lost time workers' benefit payments while utilizing the necessary systems.

As a subject matter expert in payments, you will be part of a provincial team that reviews, analyzes, and responds to inquiries from workplace parties and other WSIB staff both verbally and in writing. You will recommend solutions while adhering to relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify the accuracy of benefit payment authorizations and gather necessary information for determining the earnings basis in accordance with applicable legislation.
  • Collaborate with adjudication staff to establish the appropriate course of action regarding payments.
  • Provide detailed explanations of payments in memo format.
  • Consult with management on complex payment issues.
  • Identify and monitor cases requiring recalculation.
  • Calculate, prorate, and ensure funds are allocated to the correct payees.
  • Create online payment transactions and adjustments while documenting required information.
  • Offer specialized technical advice and assistance by:
  • Providing guidance on payment matters related to policies and procedures.
  • Responding to information requests from adjudication staff regarding the correct application of benefit payment policies.
  • Addressing employer and worker inquiries related to the correct application of benefit payment policies in relevant cases.
  • Document payment histories, provide benefit/payment status, and offer detailed written explanations in response to inquiries while adhering to privacy guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of high school education.
  • Minimum one year of experience in financial or mathematical concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal and judgment skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload while delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills to assess and interpret policies and complex calculations.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office.
