EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The expertise, skills, and experience necessary for this role are typically acquired through a recognized bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline, along with five years of relevant management experience, including talent acquisition, instructional design, corporate training and development, and project management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficient in HRIS and tools for HR functions such as recruitment, training, performance management, feedback, and rewards;
- Up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices in recruitment and retention, organizational development, organizational design, employee relations, and compensation planning;
- Familiar with current best practices for recruiting and talent management;
- Ability to present confidently and professionally as an ambassador for the organization;
- Capacity to quickly grasp the organization's business and culture;
- Strong business acumen and judgment - able to effectively balance employee needs with competing business demands;
- Advanced technical skills, particularly in Word, presentation tools, and adept at using HRIS and social recruitment tools and analytics;
- Attuned to individuals and personalities, capable of identifying strong organizational fit;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate and maintain respectful and professional working relationships with diverse personalities and cultures at all organizational levels;
- Self-motivated and independent while valuing collaboration in the workplace;
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present professionally both orally and in writing;
- Critical and strategic thinking skills - able to assess situations objectively, apply sound reasoning, develop strategies, and make independent decisions;
- Adaptable and flexible - able to navigate ambiguity in a dynamic and evolving environment; and,
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while also delivering on long-term projects.
Experience in municipal settings is considered an asset, and a CPHR designation is desirable.
