Position Overview:

The Recruitment Strategy Leader, based in Edmonton and reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, is tasked with the formulation and execution of a comprehensive recruitment strategy aimed at effectively attracting, onboarding, and placing candidates across various roles including field, hourly, salaried, and corporate positions. This role involves overseeing team performance, establishing objectives, and fostering the recruitment team's development with a focus on ongoing enhancement.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a forward-thinking and effective recruitment strategy for diverse roles that aligns with the organization's requirements and draws in top-tier talent.
  • Leverage data analytics to refine the recruitment process and identify areas for efficiency gains.
  • Guide, mentor, and inspire the recruitment team to achieve their best performance.
  • Work in conjunction with the Marketing Coordinator to effectively advertise open positions and attract qualified candidates through various channels.
  • Establish clear performance metrics and provide continuous feedback to ensure objectives are met.
  • Regularly assess recruiter performance and offer coaching for ongoing improvement.
  • Oversee the complete recruitment lifecycle, including job advertisements, candidate sourcing, communication, offer management, and onboarding.
  • Collaborate with operational teams and hiring managers to comprehend their recruitment needs and offer guidance throughout the selection process.
  • Analyze, monitor, and report on key performance indicators related to recruitment, including turnover rates, fill rates, and retention metrics.
  • Utilize applicant tracking systems and other recruitment technologies to streamline the hiring process and maintain precise candidate records.
  • Ensure that the corporate values and human resource philosophies are understood and implemented throughout the department, while personally exemplifying these principles in all interactions.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline. RPR designation is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in recruitment and managing recruitment teams within the construction, heavy civil, or similar sectors.
  • A solid understanding of recruitment methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience in high-volume recruitment is advantageous.

  • Exceptional leadership capabilities with a talent for coaching and motivating a team.
  • Direct experience in recruiting for hourly positions such as heavy equipment operators, laborers, and field supervisors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Customer-oriented with strong relationship-building skills.
  • A solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, complemented by meticulous attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Proficient in handling sensitive and complex situations with sound judgment and discretion.
