About the Job

The National Research Council Canada (NRC) is seeking a highly qualified Director or Director, Research and Development to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading a team of researchers and technicians in the development of innovative technologies and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 7-9 team leaders with approximately 70 research and technical staff to achieve optimal project execution, resource management, and continuous professional development of personnel.
  • Provide strategic guidance and advice to the Director General on matters related to the Centre's research and development activities, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategy, scientific and technical excellence, and client satisfaction.
  • Maximize the value and impact of the Centre's contributions to various NRC research and development programs focused on Canadian public policy initiatives.
  • Work closely with external stakeholders and clients to conduct research and development to achieve common objectives.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline from a recognized university.
  • Significant experience in a research and development environment, including the development and leadership of research programs or projects.
  • Experience in supervising and developing scientific personnel within multidisciplinary teams, including in a matrix project and program environment.
  • Appreciable experience and recent application of leadership principles, tools, and practices, as well as administrative, financial, and human resources management.
  • Experience in analyzing technological trends and establishing research directions in relevant application areas.
  • Appreciable experience and proven ability to establish partnerships or business opportunities with industry, academia, governments, and other partners, combined with highly effective interpersonal skills.

Salary Range
