ROLE SUMMARY:
Utilize the nursing process to deliver high-quality patient care. Collaborate as a vital member of the Health Care Team and Nursing Team. Uphold professional standards and maintain nursing documentation. Engage as part of a multidisciplinary team while executing additional related responsibilities as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);
  • Proof of current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.);
  • Commitment to Reflective Practice Standards as set by the CNO;
  • Postgraduate certificate in Oncology and/or Palliative Nursing is advantageous;
  • Postgraduate certificate in Nephrology or Medical-Surgical certification also considered;
  • Certification in CVAD, I.V. Therapy preferred, or willingness to obtain these certifications within one year;
  • Recent experience in oncology/palliative/nephrology nursing is preferred;
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc.N.) is preferred;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to perform effectively and exhibit empathy in high-stress and emotionally charged situations involving patients and their families;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on fostering positive public relations in a family-centered care environment;
  • Proven organizational, problem-solving, and teaching abilities;
  • Capability to assume a leadership or supervisory role;
  • Experience in radiation oncology is an asset;
  • Membership in RNAO and CANO is beneficial;

  • Must maintain a satisfactory performance record;
  • Understanding of and commitment to comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff, patient, and environmental safety, and participation in regular in-service education sessions.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

Employment terms are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).

Successful external applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
