Pediatric Clinical Practice Supervisor

Position Overview:
The Pediatric Clinical Practice Supervisor plays a pivotal role in guiding clinical and professional practices, education, and the application of research within the pediatric healthcare domain.

As a catalyst for change, a seasoned clinician, and a collaborative partner, the Supervisor champions the hospital's mission to enhance patient care quality.

The responsibilities of this role are balanced between corporate and programmatic duties, each constituting 50% of the workload.

Key Responsibilities:
*Deliver expert clinical consultation to ensure optimal patient care
*Provide leadership in educational initiatives, clinical documentation, projects, and committees relevant to the Supervisor's expertise.
*Facilitate advanced training for skills and certifications beyond standard practice expectations (e.g., PALS)

  • Guide and/or consult on the creation of corporate and program-based educational programs (including orientation and ongoing education)
*Design and implement both intra- and interprofessional educational sessions
*Create accessible educational opportunities to encourage staff involvement
*Employ diverse adult learning methodologies and assessment techniques aligned with desired learning outcomes
*Base all practice, educational, and leadership activities on the best available evidence (e.g., practice projects, educational sessions, policy/procedure formulation)
*Engage in recruitment efforts
*Encourage staff participation in personal and professional development.
*Assist managers with staff performance evaluations as needed.
*Conduct clinical practice assessments and identify educational support for performance challenges and learning gaps.
*Collaborate on and/or formulate performance enhancement plans with staff as necessary
*Partner with human resources, occupational health, and management to maintain a safe working environment

Qualifications:
*Current registration with the relevant nursing regulatory body;
*Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Education;
*Master's degree is highly preferred, or evidence of progression towards it;
*Completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S) program;
*Current PALS certification required; instructor status is advantageous
*Demonstrated experience in a clinical role;
*Theoretical and practical expertise in adult education, including program planning, development, and evaluation;
*Proven experience in program planning and evaluation, along with managing organizational change initiatives;
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
*Effective leadership and collaboration abilities;
*Demonstrated critical thinking, prioritization, and conflict resolution skills;
*Willingness to travel between various healthcare sites;
*Commitment to comprehensive safety protocols and participation in regular in-service education regarding safety;

*Must possess a satisfactory performance record.
