About the Role

The Department of Education, Western Australia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the position of Aboriginal Education Support Coordinator. This is a permanent, part-time (0.4FTE) role commencing Term 4, 2024.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to Aboriginal students and their families, addressing their unique needs and aspirations.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and external partners to enhance cultural responsiveness and inclusivity within the school community.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted support programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Aboriginal families and communities, fostering trust and cooperation.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of the issues and needs of Aboriginal children, families, and communities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Well-developed organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience in working with individual or small groups of Aboriginal students who are experiencing difficulties.
