Role Overview:

The Personal Banker is dedicated to providing outstanding service to customers and potential clients at BMO. This position involves identifying customer requirements and offering tailored financial solutions that align with their best interests. Collaboration with branch colleagues and BMO partners is essential to ensure a seamless customer experience and to meet business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively engage with current and prospective clients through needs-based assessments to enhance loyalty and uncover new opportunities.
  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to recommend customized banking solutions that address both sales and service requirements, including everyday banking, lending options, and small business services.
  • Advise clients on digital and self-service banking options to simplify their banking experience.
  • Assist with customer transactions based on branch traffic and needs.
  • Drive business growth by reaching out to potential clients and establishing new community relationships.
  • Resolve inquiries and issues identified during consumer credit audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Implement risk management strategies to safeguard the bank's assets and maintain the integrity of the lending portfolio.
  • Make informed credit recommendations for personal lending transactions, adhering to established policies.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a dynamic branch team.
  • Understand customer banking and credit card needs, integrating marketing initiatives into discussions to provide strategic insights.
  • Organize and maintain accurate work information.
  • Utilize creative approaches to enhance each customer's experience.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of customer service delivery.
  • Participate in achieving business objectives and enhancing overall customer satisfaction.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple branches or channels as market demands dictate.
  • Adhere to risk and compliance protocols to protect customer assets and privacy.
  • Stay informed about the financial services landscape and uphold ethical standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of personal banking products and trends to inform customer interactions.
  • Identify and report any suspicious activities that may indicate money laundering.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Safeguard the bank's assets in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Escalate complex customer issues to management as necessary.
  • Handle diverse tasks within established guidelines, including addressing escalations from colleagues.
  • Analyze challenges and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, with a post-secondary degree in a related field preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completed registration for selling investment products as required by jurisdiction.
  • Possess appropriate lending qualifications and designations.
  • Understanding of personal and small business customer needs and solutions.
  • Familiarity with retail investment and lending products.
  • Experience in the financial services sector is advantageous.
  • Proficient in using social media, tablets, smartphones, and online tools.
  • Background in consultative customer service or sales roles, with a focus on delivering personalized experiences.
  • Strong commitment to customer support.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to excel in a consultative sales and team environment.
  • Self-motivated with the confidence to engage customers.
  • Willingness to collaborate and adapt to various team roles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building rapport with clients.
  • Aptitude for listening, problem-solving, and adapting to new challenges.

Compensation: $37, $69,500.00

Pay Structure: Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group's pay range and type. Salaries may vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role. The total compensation package may include performance-based incentives and other benefits.
