Loan Assessment Specialist

Your Role:
As a Credit Analyst (casual), you will play a vital role in the Lending Services division of Scotia Dealer Advantage in Canada. Your contributions will be essential in ensuring that individual objectives, plans, and initiatives align with the broader business strategies and goals of the team. You will ensure that all activities comply with relevant regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a customer-centric culture to enhance client relationships and utilize the Bank's extensive resources and knowledge.
- Drive loan growth and profitability by:
- Evaluating customer loan applications from Dealers and assessing customer affordability by reviewing credit history, employment, and income in accordance with established guidelines;
- Conducting structured analyses on loan applications using the Business Line's credit decisioning system;
- Performing risk assessments and providing recommendations regarding the appropriate actions for customer loan applications;
- Analyzing and processing loan amendments or pricing concession requests from dealers, and supporting pricing and fee recommendations.
- Ensure thorough and timely due diligence in loan underwriting by:
- Accurately investigating, evaluating, and documenting customer loan applications from Dealers;
- Following up on outstanding loan-related information and managing the credit review process for assigned applications;
- Escalating exceptional credit situations to the Manager, Credit for prompt resolution through Global Risk Management/ACE.
- Understand the Bank's risk appetite and culture, applying this knowledge in daily activities and decision-making.
- Strive for effective and efficient operations within your areas, ensuring compliance with operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk, including adherence to various risk management frameworks.
- Foster a high-performance environment by implementing a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates team members, while promoting an inclusive workplace culture.
Qualifications:
- Experience in prime or non-prime financing adjudication is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in credit analysis.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and credit decisioning software.
Working Conditions:
- Standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are rare.
- Operating hours (scheduling within these times):
- Monday - Thursday 7:30am to 11:00pm EST
- Friday 7:30am - 9:00pm EST
- Saturday 9:00am - 8:00pm EST
- Sunday 10:00am - 7:00pm EST
- Due to language needs, the successful candidate must be able to communicate in English and French to serve a diverse clientele.
