Position Overview

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Social Impact Specialist/Scientist to support various infrastructure initiatives across Canada. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in socio-economic impact evaluation, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and both qualitative and quantitative social science analysis. Expertise in community outreach and Indigenous consultation is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing comprehensive qualitative and quantitative methodologies for socio-economic and social impact assessments.
  • Contributing to the creation of work products, including socio-economic baseline studies and analytical reports related to environmental assessments and permitting processes.
  • Overseeing field studies, stakeholder surveys, and interviews to establish socio-economic assessment baselines.
  • Reviewing and critiquing technical documents, reports, and presentations.
  • Designing and implementing community engagement strategies and Indigenous consultation plans to foster understanding and acceptance of infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinating public participation activities, including event planning and facilitation.
  • Collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and interdisciplinary teams to guide project planning and design, including engagement with Indigenous communities.
  • Liaising with clients, the public, and regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • Managing project responsibilities, including planning, execution, team oversight, and project closure.
  • Leading business development initiatives, including proposal writing and participation in industry organizations.
  • Implementing social performance and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies across Canada.
  • Contributing to AECOM's Technical Practice Groups.
  • Performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Social Science, Environmental Science, Business, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant consulting experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field.
  • 10 years of consulting experience in socio-environmental impact assessment or Indigenous engagement.
  • Proven track record of engaging with communities and building relationships with Indigenous groups.
  • Knowledge of environmental assessment processes and related regulations.
  • Strong communication, research, and technical writing skills.
  • Experience in business development and proposal writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel for fieldwork.
  • Experience with Gender Based Analysis Plus (GBA+) is an asset.
  • Understanding of infrastructure planning and implementation processes.
  • Membership in a professional body is preferred.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
