Job Summary
Our Linguists play a crucial role in delivering real-time transcriptions of sensitive content from Spanish to English. They are tasked with the collection, analysis, identification, and interpretation of colloquial expressions and slang, ensuring that vital information is accurately communicated to law enforcement personnel. The linguist will also transcribe source documents and recordings from various media formats, including audiocassettes, videocassettes, and digital files.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Analyzes oral and written communications in Spanish, providing verbal and written summaries and transcriptions as required by the project. Communicates all relevant information to the Client during live project support. Contributes to a comprehensive list of slang terms and codes specific to the project or case. Maintains a voice library throughout the duration of the project. Transcribes and translates relevant calls and documents as assigned by the supervisor. Produces court-ready transcriptions of significant calls, chats, and documents, adhering to the required formatting standards. Utilizes various reference tools developed during the project. Capable of transcribing a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation within an 8-hour workday. Operates specialized software and equipment provided by the government, including JSI voice box, Pen-link, Comverse, and other communication collection tools at the assigned site. Maintains a daily productivity log.Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of professional experience, OR an Associate degree with five (5) years of professional experience, OR a High School Diploma with seven (7) years of experience. At least one (1) year of transcription experience in the required language. Selected candidates may undergo a government background investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for accessing classified information. Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident. Familiarity with colloquial terms and expressions in the source language. Knowledgeable in SMS language, social media, and web chat communication. Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills in the target language, including proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Must achieve a score of 3 or higher on a third-party Language Assessment (Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing) in English. Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment and communicate efficiently with management and law enforcement personnel. Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines while working collaboratively in a team setting. Capable of receiving technical direction and feedback from various sources. Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute.CLEARANCE:

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS :
Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance. Favorable credit check for all cleared positions. Successful completion of a background investigation, medical examination, and drug screening.Physical Requirements/Working Conditions :
Mobility to attend meetings with other managers and employees. Minimal climbing, stooping, or kneeling required. Minimal lifting, pulling, or pushing required. Must be able to write, type, and use a telephone system consistently.
