Job Summary

As a Spanish Linguist, you will play a crucial role in the transcription and translation of sensitive content from Spanish to English. Your responsibilities will include analyzing colloquial expressions and slang, as well as extracting and relaying critical information to law enforcement personnel. You will be tasked with transcribing various forms of media, including audio and video recordings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct real-time transcriptions of spoken and written communications in Spanish, providing accurate verbal and written summaries as required.
  • Communicate all relevant information to clients during live projects.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive list of slang and coded language used by specific groups throughout the duration of projects.
  • Create and manage a voice library for project reference.
  • Produce court-ready transcriptions of relevant communications and documents as directed by supervisors.
  • Utilize various reference tools developed during projects effectively.
  • Achieve a minimum transcription output of 16 minutes of recorded conversation within an 8-hour workday.
  • Operate specialized transcription software and equipment as provided.
  • Keep a daily log of productivity metrics.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

  • A Bachelor's degree with three years of relevant experience, an Associate degree with five years of experience, or a High School Diploma with seven years of experience in a professional setting.
  • At least one year of transcription experience in Spanish.
  • Candidates may be subject to a government background investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for accessing classified information.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
  • Proficient in colloquial Spanish terms and expressions.
  • Familiarity with SMS language, social media, and web-based communication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish, with a strong command of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Ability to meet contract requirements for language proficiency assessments in English.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Capable of working effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining clear communication with management and law enforcement.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to type at least 45 words per minute.

Security Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation, medical examination, and drug screening.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to attend meetings and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while monitoring communications.
