Position Overview: Reporting to the Associate Director of Experiential Learning, the Team Coaching Manager is responsible for leading and supervising a team of Coaches while also fulfilling the role of a frontline Coach. In this leadership capacity, the Manager oversees the planning, workload, and performance of the Coaching team, providing daily guidance and feedback while identifying and addressing higher-level challenges as necessary.

Key Responsibilities: In their role as a Team Coach, the Manager assists students in acquiring both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for effective team development. This includes facilitating the processes of giving and receiving feedback, managing conflicts, and exhibiting leadership within academic team settings.

The Manager collaborates with academic Program Heads to assess evolving service requirements, which inform the Coaches' responsibilities and workload distribution as part of the broader Experiential Learning strategy. Additionally, the Manager oversees the core curriculum utilized in Team Coaching and works closely with the Centre for Teaching and Educational Technologies (CTET) to implement team-based learning approaches institution-wide.

Collaboration and Support: The Manager partners with the Experiential Learning management team and collaborates with Student Services to contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing student retention and success. Furthermore, the Manager is an integral member of the university's Collaborative Assessment, Referral, and Education (CARE) Team, facilitating early intervention processes for students who may be vulnerable or at risk.

Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary master's degree in a relevant field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of an undergraduate degree and a minimum of five years of pertinent team coaching experience.
  • Certification in coaching training and/or expertise in team-based skill development is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of team and individual coaching theories, conflict resolution, and organizational development practices.
  • Experience in instruction and facilitation within team processes, collaborative methodologies, and experiential learning environments.
  • Proficient problem-solving, conflict management, and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, particularly in addressing situations requiring intervention.
  • Strong administrative and organizational capabilities, including staff supervision, budget management, and process development.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain robust relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Willingness to work during statutory holidays, weekends, and evenings as needed for residencies and urgent team matters.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Administrative and leadership experience within a post-secondary educational environment.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in both online and in-person settings.
  • Familiarity with digital platforms such as Moodle and Zoom.
  • Training and experience in intercultural competence and diversity.
  • In-depth knowledge of the university's philosophy, programs, and strategic objectives.
