Position Overview

The National Capital Commission (NCC) is seeking a Senior Real Estate Consultant specializing in Asset Management for an indeterminate role.

As a federal Crown corporation, the NCC is committed to ensuring that Canada's Capital remains a vibrant and inspiring source of pride for all Canadians, serving as a legacy for future generations.

With over a century of experience, the NCC fulfills three essential roles:

  • Long-term planner of federal lands
  • Principal steward of nationally significant public spaces
  • Creative partner dedicated to excellence in development and conservation

A qualified pool of candidates will be established and may be utilized for additional temporary or indeterminate roles.

Key Responsibilities

In the capacity of Senior Real Estate Consultant, you will provide expert guidance in the realms of strategic portfolio asset management. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Administering various real estate activities and tasks associated with Built Asset Management.
  • Conducting a range of analyses, inspections, and reporting focused on real estate strategies to support the NCC's Real Estate and Development portfolio.
  • Leading internal teams in the planning, design, and execution of portfolio objectives related to strategic asset management of buildings.
  • Overseeing a multi-disciplinary team to facilitate the delivery of the NCC's major project priorities.

Qualifications

A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in real estate asset management, engineering, building science, or a suitable combination of education, training, and experience is required.

Additionally, candidates should possess:

  • Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in providing real estate advisory services, including:
    • Leadership and oversight in capital planning and asset management strategies.
    • Coordination and management of inspection programs for built assets.
    • Recommendations to senior management regarding capital budget prioritization related to built assets.

Knowledge of asset management principles, maintenance, and investment analysis to support sustainable asset management and long-term capital planning is essential.

Familiarity with project management principles, methodologies, and best practices is also required.

Skills

Assets

  • Industry certifications related to asset management.
  • Experience with Yardi and VTS software.
  • Functional knowledge of building systems, infrastructure, and the real estate industry.

The NCC promotes a hybrid and flexible work environment, with employees currently required to work on-site at least two (2) days per week.
