Insurance Claims Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Claims Advisor - Bodily Injury to join our team at Peace Hills Insurance. This role involves investigating, negotiating, and settling claims related to bodily injury. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role, supplemented by post-secondary education and/or a CIP/FCIP designation or working towards same.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of casualty claims, confirming coverages, determining liability, and verifying entitlement to coverage.
- Collect and review medical documents and treatment plans to quantify claims.
- Negotiate with claimant counsel and attend mediations and examinations/questioning as required.
- Document all file activity in an orderly and detailed fashion and maintain effective communication channels within the claims department and with outside professionals.
- Assist operations during high volume periods by examining overflow files and performing various other duties as required.
- Extensive experience in a Bodily Injury role, supplemented by post-secondary education and/or a CIP/FCIP designation or working towards same.
- Experience with Commercial General Liability and Personal Liability policies.
- Experience with mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
- Multi-jurisdiction losses experience is an asset.
- Exceptional ability to negotiate and critically analyze data and be decisive.
- Keen understanding of medical terminology and medical abbreviations.
- Knowledge of common types of trauma, their treatment, and recovery periods.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with auto contract and the Traffic Safety Act and Minor Injury Regulation.
