Property Claims Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Property Claims Specialist to join our team at Peace Hills Insurance. This full-time, permanent role involves working closely with our Property Claims Manager to assess, negotiate, and resolve claims related to personal lines, farm, and commercial insurance policies. The successful candidate will manage claims across various regions, ensuring a comprehensive approach to each case.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage directly with policyholders, guiding them through the claims process to ensure equitable and just settlements.
  • Analyze all available information to verify that coverage is applicable to the reported claim.
  • Clearly communicate coverage details and the claims process to policyholders and claimants.
  • Identify potential recovery opportunities, including subrogation and salvage options.
  • Gather and assess documents and relevant information to aid in the evaluation and quantification of claims.
  • Establish, assess, and maintain suitable reserves based on anticipated final payouts.
  • Provide oversight and direction to independent adjusters and legal representatives.
  • Coordinate the engagement of external resources as necessary.
  • Monitor and manage costs associated with external resources effectively.
  • Evaluate and adjust claims in alignment with our customer service standards.
  • Maintain effective communication, both verbally and in writing, within and outside the organization.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date file diaries and records.
  • Identify and address potentially fraudulent claims, collaborating with the Special Investigations Unit as needed.

Qualifications:

  • CIP/FCIP designation is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in property claims is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of property insurance policies and their wording is required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey messages with professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Capability to make informed decisions that align with the company's claims handling philosophy.
