About the Role

ORBCOMM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Vice President, Strategy & Product to lead our Satellite Line of Business. This key role will report directly to our EVP GM Satellite IoT and be based in Ottawa, ON.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning and Development: Develop and execute the Satellite Line of Business strategic plan, leveraging business acumen to define investment opportunities and drive growth.
  • Market Analysis: Identify and evaluate emerging trends, market opportunities, and competitive threats to inform business decisions.
  • Product Roadmap: Develop a comprehensive product plan that incorporates customer, partner, and industry requirements.
  • Business Development: Identify and assess new business opportunities, partnerships, and markets to drive growth and expansion.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Process Optimization: Ensure continuous improvement and optimization of business processes to drive efficiency and productivity.
  • Customer Relationships: Develop trusted relationships with strategic customers to understand market requirements and assess competitive risks and opportunities.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
  • Business Acumen: Strong knowledge of profit/loss, EBITDA, recurring revenue, and other key financial metrics.
  • Product Management Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in product management or equivalent, delivering software, software as a service, hardware products, or satellite technology, preferably related to the Internet-of-Things (IoT).
  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience leading cross-functional teams in the delivery of major new products or services.
  • Domain Expertise: Ideally, deep domain experience in Internet of Things as it applies to shipping, ports, and related industries.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and reach consensus across diverse groups and teams.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborative working style, with the ability to thrive in a team environment and inspire team members to be their best.
  • Travel Requirements: Position requires local and international travel to customer and non-customer sites (50-75%).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent experience.
