About Us:
We are in search of a proficient Polymer Chemist to contribute to our innovative projects at the University of Ottawa.
Role Objective:
The selected candidate will engage in a collaborative initiative involving NSERC, Mitacs, and Svante, focusing on the development of advanced CO2 capture sorbents under the guidance of Professor Abdel Sayari.
Main Duties:
- Execute experiments aimed at synthesizing or modifying polymers to enhance CO2 capture efficiency.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in CO2 sorbent technologies.
- Record experimental results meticulously and perform data analysis.
- Assist in scaling up the synthesis of sorbents from laboratory to pre-industrial levels.
- Improve the efficacy of current sorbent materials.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with research experience.
- Proficiency in organic synthesis and polymerization processes.
- Ability to adapt and manage various job responsibilities.
- Self-driven and innovative mindset.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in the development of carbon-capture sorbents.
- Familiarity with characterization methods such as TGA, FTIR, SEM, etc.
- Knowledge of computational chemistry software.
