Position Overview
The Department of Radiology, Radiation Oncology, and Medical Physics is inviting applications for a hybrid research role as a Scientist specializing in Medical Artificial Intelligence (MAI) and Virtual Reality (VR).

In the AI aspect of this role, the selected candidate will focus on the creation and implementation of advanced artificial intelligence models aimed at enhancing diagnostic precision, optimizing workflows, and fostering innovation in medical imaging. This role involves close collaboration with radiologists, data analysts, and engineers to convert complex datasets into actionable insights that improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Include:

•AI Model Development: Design, develop, and validate sophisticated AI models and algorithms tailored for medical imaging applications, such as image segmentation, classification, and anomaly detection.

•Data Analysis: Process and analyze extensive datasets of medical images to train and validate AI models, ensuring optimal accuracy and applicability.

•Collaboration: Engage with radiologists and medical professionals to identify clinical needs and translate them into AI-driven solutions.

•Research & Innovation: Remain informed about the latest developments in AI and radiology, applying innovative techniques to enhance existing systems and processes.

•Deployment & Integration: Implement and integrate AI models into current radiology systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and smooth operation.

•Validation & Testing: Conduct thorough validation and testing of AI models to confirm their reliability, robustness, and clinical relevance.

The Rad-Sur-VR research group is dedicated to advanced visualization techniques, utilizing 3D image segmentation software and virtual reality technology.

For the VR component, the successful candidate will work with research team members to manage and coordinate the Rad-Sur-VR program and its associated studies.

Additional Responsibilities May Include:

•Maintenance of equipment and software

•Medical image segmentation and 3D model development

•Dissemination of models to patients and their healthcare teams.

•Organizing regular update meetings with radiologists and surgeons.

Basic Requirements (Education/Experience):
Candidates should ideally possess a PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields, with a strong background in health sciences. Postdoctoral experience is considered a significant advantage.

Skills Required:

•Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.

•Expertise in machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).

•Strong understanding of image processing techniques and computer vision.

•Experience with large-scale data processing and analysis.

•Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.

•Experience in developing 3D geographical environments.

•Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

•Advanced organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.

•Evidence of training certification in relevant ethical and clinical practice guidelines.

•Experience in preparing research ethics applications for institutional review boards.

•Ability to work on-site and travel between multiple campuses.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working in a multidisciplinary, patient-centered environment to tackle significant healthcare challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Three to five years of clinical research experience

•Familiarity with various virtual and augmented reality technologies

•Experience in patient recruitment and conducting in-person research visits.

•Background in medical imaging research or related fields.

•Knowledge of clinical research principles and procedures.

•Ability to design and implement systems for data collection, maintenance, and analysis.

•Willingness to acquire new skills as required for the position.

•Established ability to work in a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary environment.

•Advanced organizational and time-management skills.
