Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Polymer Chemist to contribute to our cutting-edge research in CO2 capture sorbents. This role offers the opportunity to work on a collaborative project with leading researchers at the University of Ottawa, supported by NSERC, Mitacs, and Svante.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and synthesize novel polymers for enhanced CO2 capture performance.
- Conduct experiments to modify existing polymers, optimizing their sorbent properties.
- Analyze experimental data and prepare comprehensive reports documenting findings.
- Collaborate with researchers to scale up the synthesis of promising sorbents from laboratory to pre-industrial levels.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in CO2 capture technologies and materials.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field with a strong research background.
- Demonstrated expertise in organic synthesis and polymerization reactions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in developing CO2 capture sorbents.
- Familiarity with characterization techniques such as TGA, FTIR, SEM, etc.
- Knowledge of computational software relevant to chemistry and materials science.
