CO2 Capture Research Fellow for Polymer Sorbent Development at University of Ottawa

**Job Summary**
We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team at Svante, working in collaboration with the University of Ottawa. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research and development of polymer sorbents for CO2 capture.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Conduct experimentation in synthesizing or altering polymers to develop CO capture sorbents with significantly enhanced performance/lifetime.
- Work with the University of Ottawa and Svante to seek and apply scalable and cost-effective methods for new polymer sorbent development.
- Monitor research and developments related to next-generation CO sorbents.
- Document experimental records, observations, data analysis, and summarization.
- Conduct lab work on CO sorbent synthesis at small scales in labs and potentially conduct pre-industrial scaling up organic sorbent synthesis works based on bench-scale results.
- Improve sorbent synthesis, post-treatment, and performance of sorbents already developed in-house.
**Requirements**
- Ph.D. in chemistry/polymer chemistry/organic chemistry or relevant majors with several years of related research experience.
- Expertise in organic synthesis, purification, polymer modification, polymerization reactions.
- Adaptability to change and comfort with broad job functions such as sourcing, method development, etc.
- Self-motivation, passion, and creativity about bringing new ideas to the sorbent team.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Hands-on experience in carbon-capture sorbents development.
- Expertise in characterization techniques such as TGA, Sorption gas analyzers, FTIR, SEM, XRD, NMR, etc.
- Skills in chemistry/computational software such as chem draw, Mercury, GCMC simulation, Ab Initio Calculations, and other methods.
- Familiarity with the Design of Experiments (DOE).
