We are in search of a proficient Polymer Chemist to contribute to our innovative projects at the University of Ottawa.
Role Objective:
The selected candidate will engage in a collaborative initiative involving NSERC, Mitacs, and Svante, focusing on the advancement of CO2 capture sorbents with superior efficiency under the guidance of Professor Abdel Sayari.
Main Duties:
- Execute experiments aimed at synthesizing or modifying polymers to enhance CO2 capture capabilities.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in CO2 sorbent technologies.
- Record experimental outcomes and perform data analysis.
- Assist in scaling up the synthesis of sorbents from laboratory to pre-industrial levels.
- Improve the functionality of current sorbent materials.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with practical research experience.
- Proficiency in organic synthesis and polymerization techniques.
- Ability to adapt and manage a variety of tasks effectively.
- Self-driven and innovative mindset.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in the development of carbon-capture sorbents.
- Familiarity with characterization methods such as TGA, FTIR, SEM, etc.
- Knowledge of computational chemistry software.
