Victim Services Program Director

Position Overview
The City of Medicine Hat is seeking a dedicated and experienced Program Manager to oversee the Victim Assistance Unit. This permanent, full-time role is crucial in providing support and resources to victims and witnesses of crime, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance during challenging times. The Program Manager will be responsible for the strategic oversight, administration, and evaluation of victim service initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
As the Program Manager, your duties will include:
- Establishing objectives and performance metrics for the victim services program, focusing on enhancing service delivery and continuous improvement.
- Designing and implementing training programs for volunteers, along with providing on-the-job coaching.
- Leading and inspiring a team of employees and volunteers, while understanding the dynamics of volunteer-driven service delivery.
- Collecting and analyzing data to generate reports and statistical insights for various stakeholders.
- Managing the program budget, including reporting and applying for government grants.
- Offering expertise and best practices regarding the victim services program.
- Ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations, including the Victim of Crime Act and the Victim Bill of Rights.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field such as Criminology, Social Sciences, or Management from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience, including at least two years in managing a social service or volunteer program.
- Current registration with the applicable professional regulatory body, if required.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Successful completion of a comprehensive security clearance as per the policies of the Medicine Hat Police Service.
