Clinical Research Project Coordinator

The Clinical Research Project Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) to support the formulation of research initiatives and aid in the development of a robust research framework within the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU). This role encompasses the preparation of ethical review submissions, oversight of regulatory documentation, and communication with participating sites involved in various studies. The Coordinator will also deliver project management services, which include strategizing and directing research projects, ensuring adherence to project goals, coordinating with partner facilities to fulfill study requirements, and monitoring financial expenditures and budgets for research endeavors.

Key Responsibilities

Engage with the PI and relevant stakeholders regularly to identify potential new initiatives, grants, and projects. Conduct thorough research and analysis to meet research project objectives. Assist in drafting and/or refining substantial sections of ethics and other documentation supporting research activities. Facilitate the creation, maintenance, and improvement of operational procedures for research projects, including pharmacy manuals, laboratory guidelines, enrollment protocols, data entry standards, case report forms, and other necessary study-related documents. Provide insights to determine administrative and resource requirements and devise strategies to address these needs. Manage financial resources and assist in formulating budgets for new studies. Direct the activities of assigned personnel by clearly defining responsibilities, reviewing workload distributions, and adjusting schedules to meet operational demands. Contribute to research design and the development of research tools, including study databases and follow-up mechanisms. Complete necessary processes and procedures, including applications for new or expanded research ethics approvals. Monitor the progress of research projects and the achievement of project milestones. Prepare and disseminate reports, including those required by funding agencies. Collaborate with Principal Investigators and Research Teams to develop specific study documents, tools, and processes. Provide administrative support for conferences organized locally, including managing meeting logistics and details. Coordinate communication efforts for research initiatives and projects, including planning, developing, and implementing communication strategies and materials, such as audio-visual content for presentations, utilizing creativity and various media. Undertake other related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences or a related field, complemented by a minimum of five (5) years of research experience in the healthcare sector, including proficiency in data analysis programs and reference databases. Preferred certifications include Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) or Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) certifications.

Desired Skills

In-depth understanding of clinical trials, particularly in oncology. Extensive knowledge of scientific terminology and research methodologies in the healthcare domain. Ability to assess service delivery effectively. Proficient in delivering oral and written presentations and participating in relevant meetings. Strong interpersonal, management, coordination, and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. Familiarity with database platforms such as Microsoft Access and RedCap. Demonstrated leadership and collaborative skills, particularly within a research context. Commitment to understanding and applying the principles of Indigenous Cultural Safety and the associated calls to action. Ability to work collaboratively with Indigenous teams to ensure a holistic application of cultural safety. Awareness of the social, economic, political, and historical factors affecting Indigenous communities.
