Clinical Research Project Coordinator

As a pivotal member of the research team, the Clinical Research Project Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) to facilitate the advancement of research initiatives and contribute to the development of a robust research framework within the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU). This role encompasses the preparation of ethical review submissions, management of regulatory documents, and coordination with participating research sites.

Key Responsibilities

Engage with the PI and relevant stakeholders regularly to identify potential research opportunities, grants, and projects. Conduct thorough research and analysis to support the objectives of research initiatives. Assist in drafting and refining essential documents, including ethics submissions and other necessary paperwork for research activities. Oversee the creation, maintenance, and improvement of operational procedures for research projects, which may include pharmacy manuals, laboratory protocols, enrollment guidelines, data entry instructions, and other related documentation. Assess administrative and resource requirements and devise strategies to address these needs. Manage financial resources and assist in budget formulation for new research studies. Supervise assigned staff by clearly defining roles, monitoring workloads, and adjusting schedules to meet operational demands. Contribute to the design of research studies and the development of research tools, including databases and follow-up processes. Ensure compliance with research ethics by completing necessary applications for new or expanded approvals. Monitor the progress of research projects and the achievement of project milestones. Prepare and disseminate reports, including those required by funding bodies. Collaborate with Principal Investigators and research teams to develop specific study documents and processes. Provide logistical support for locally organized conferences, including coordinating meeting details and arrangements. Manage communication strategies for research projects, which includes planning, creating, and distributing communication materials, such as presentations and multimedia content. Undertake additional related tasks as required.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences or a related discipline, complemented by a minimum of five years of research experience in the healthcare sector, including proficiency in data analysis software and reference databases. Preferred certifications include those from the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) or the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA).

Desired Skills

Comprehensive understanding of clinical trials, particularly in oncology. In-depth knowledge of scientific terminology and research methodologies within the healthcare sector. Ability to assess service delivery effectively. Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to participate in meetings effectively. Excellent interpersonal, management, coordination, and communication abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. Familiarity with database systems such as Microsoft Access and RedCap. Demonstrated leadership and collaborative skills, particularly within a research context. Commitment to understanding and integrating the principles of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action and related reports into healthcare practices. Support for team members in their educational journeys, promoting the implementation of Indigenous Cultural Safety. Collaboration with Indigenous teams to ensure a holistic application of cultural safety principles. Dedication to fostering meaningful reconciliation efforts in Canada. Awareness of the socio-economic, political, and historical factors affecting Indigenous communities and familiarity with relevant reports on cultural safety and anti-racism.
