Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing administrative support and technical assistance to instructors and staff in the trades department. The successful candidate will have experience working with heavy mechanical equipment and welding, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support, including responding to student inquiries, drafting correspondence, and maintaining department records.
  • Prepare and set up shop projects, and construct training aids for departmental programs.
  • Supervise shop activity, respond to student queries, and offer advice and assistance relative to techniques and methodologies.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot shop training aids and equipment.
  • Coordinate facility tours and events, and organize and maintain materials and equipment for internal and external promotional events.
  • Act as a liaison with external organizations, such as the Apprenticeship Board and Skills Canada.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 plus Red Seal Certification in Heavy Duty Equipment or other related trades program, and over one year of related experience working with heavy mechanical equipment and welding.
  • Forklift 1-4-5 certification required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
