Director of Facilities and Sustainability

What you will do:
As a key figure in Cineplex's dedication to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, the Director of Facilities and Sustainability is responsible for overseeing the management of national facilities for the premier cinema chain. This position emphasizes leadership and management of the facilities management team, ensuring that sustainable practices are woven into every facet of facility operations. The Director will investigate and apply innovative technologies, products, and methodologies to enhance energy efficiency, waste management, and eco-friendly solutions across Cineplex's facilities nationwide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide the formulation and upkeep of Cineplex's sustainability strategy and initiatives, with a strong focus on facilities management and cost-effective practices.
- Research, design, and execute operational programs aimed at enhancing facilities management and efficiency, targeting water conservation, energy optimization, and waste reduction over a comprehensive 5-year plan.
- Ensure that corporate sustainability policies are routinely assessed and incorporated into facilities management practices, prioritizing carbon tax reduction, water conservation, and other savings within the 5-year framework.
- Engage in industry groups and expert panels to uphold Cineplex's leadership in sustainability, particularly regarding best practices, innovations, and carbon-neutral initiatives in facilities management.
- Collaborate with Facilities to oversee efficiency projects, such as building automation systems and power factor corrections, in alignment with the 5-year strategy for carbon tax reduction and resource conservation.
- Develop and manage a thorough seating strategy, optimizing the use of spare inventory and overseeing the repair/replacement of the existing fleet of seats on a national scale.
- Effectively manage warehouse operations, including inventory oversight, procurement, and distribution logistics, to bolster facilities management and sustainability efforts while minimizing waste and maximizing resource efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a relevant professional field or an equivalent combination of education and progressive experience in sustainability.
- Demonstrated experience in sustainability leadership, particularly in facilities management and operational efficiency.
- Strong project management capabilities with the ability to lead and implement complex initiatives.
- Comprehensive knowledge of sustainability best practices, regulations, and industry standards.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strategic mindset with the capacity to develop and execute long-term sustainability plans.
- Experience in managing budgets and financial resources effectively.
