VG Meats is seeking a dedicated Sausage Kitchen Leader to oversee our Processing Department.

The ideal candidate will possess the maturity and expertise necessary to manage this role with precision, organization, and effective communication. As the Processing Department Team Lead, you will coordinate and schedule team activities to fulfill production objectives, ensure the smooth operation of processing machinery, and maintain inventory levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage inventory of various meats (beef, pork, poultry, and specialty meats) to guarantee recipe formulation aligns with production goals.
  • Regularly check and maintain spice inventory as per established schedules.
  • Address and resolve production challenges as they arise.
  • Optimize the use of the smokehouse for efficient operations.
  • Gather data and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Ensure the effective functioning of equipment by tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Conduct daily team meetings to align objectives.
  • Experiment with and refine products and processes.
  • Guide the personal development plans of team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; a diploma in Meat Processing or a related field is preferred, along with relevant on-the-job experience.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience operating processing equipment.
  • Proficient in setting up and operating equipment such as Sausage Stuffers, Industrial Grinders, Brine Injectors, and Smokers.
  • Understanding of meat formulation processes.
  • Ability to document actions related to recipe formulation and supervise team members involved in this process.
  • Competence in KPI recording and data entry.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with various departments.
