ENGEL Machinery North America is seeking a Service Technician within our Service Department. This role is essential for supporting our clientele effectively.

Job Overview:

The Service Technician operates remotely at client locations, focusing on the installation and maintenance of equipment while also providing necessary training and support to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Diagnose and repair injection molding machines and robotic systems, conducting tests and inspections on all mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic components, including calibrations to enhance performance. Execute software and hardware installations as required.
  2. Conduct all necessary safety evaluations on equipment.
  3. Educate clients on equipment usage and provide instructions for proper operation.
  4. Manage customer issue resolutions, including ordering and installing replacement parts as needed.
  5. Order replacement components based on diagnostics of control system issues and develop a systematic approach to troubleshooting and repairing machines.
  6. Train other Service Technicians and customer operators on the maintenance and safe operation of injection molding systems.
  7. Maintain ongoing communication with Central Service/Manufacturing/Parts Center to resolve field issues.
  8. Regularly provide written reports to the Service Manager.

Educational Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma is mandatory.
  2. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of 5 years in troubleshooting or processing injection molding, or prior experience as a Field Service Injection Molding Technician/Service Engineer is required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Proficient in reading blueprints and schematics for troubleshooting electrical/electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  2. Well-rounded expertise in injection molding machines, with skills in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and computer systems, capable of providing basic training to customers and staff.
  3. Comprehensive understanding of the injection molding process.
  4. Systematic problem-solving abilities.
  5. Familiarity with microprocessor programming.
  6. Knowledgeable about materials such as PET, Polypropylene, Polyethylene, Styrene, and other common materials.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
  8. Ability to handle challenging customer interactions with tact and diplomacy.
  9. A committed team player with a positive outlook.
  10. Familiarity with ENGEL machinery and robotic systems is advantageous.
  11. Efficient use of internal resources to resolve customer issues promptly and accurately.
  12. Capability to work independently with minimal back-office support.
