About the Role

The Manitoba Government is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Employment and Income Assistance Counsellor to join our team of social services professionals. As an EIA Counsellor, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals and families in need, providing guidance and resources to help them achieve self-sufficiency and independence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of participants' needs and develop personalized plans to address their challenges and goals.
  • Provide supportive counselling and connect participants with relevant resources and services to help them overcome barriers and achieve success.
  • Work collaboratively with participants, other programs, and external resources to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to case management.
  • Develop and implement recommendations based on your knowledge and interpretation of program legislation and policy.
  • Manage complex caseloads and prioritize tasks to ensure timely and effective service delivery.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in the social services field, such as a certificate, diploma, or degree.
  • Related case management experience, including conducting interviews, providing supportive counselling, and performing assessments, planning, and service coordination.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals and families from culturally, financially, and socially disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with people with dignity, respect, objectivity, and a desire to actively listen and learn.
  • Ability to manage conflict in a calm, assertive, and respectful manner.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word and Outlook).
  • Excellent French verbal and written communication skills (required for designated bilingual positions).
