About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability to join our team at Stonewood Group Inc. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our CSR and sustainability efforts and develop a business practice that supports our clients in the Metals, Infrastructure, and Energy sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to build a revenue-generating consulting business around CSR and sustainability.
  • Lead the effort to create a CSR and sustainability consulting practice that encompasses people, environment, and performance.
  • Interact with senior client management to advise on CSR and sustainability strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal groups to build CSR and sustainability principles into business planning and operating plans.
  • Form and lead an internal CSR and Sustainability Steering Committee to shape and implement CSR and sustainability initiatives.
  • Serve as the internal expert on CSR and sustainability, researching emerging trends and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Lead the interface with government agencies and departments on CSR and sustainability-related matters.
  • Assure that CSR and sustainability initiatives are aligned with the company's Risk Management program and strategic plan.
  • Build partnerships with external organizations to support CSR and sustainability efforts.
  • Assess CSR and sustainability performance and identify key issues for reporting.

Preferred Experience and Education

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A university undergraduate degree in Environmental, Engineering, or Business.
  • A professional designation, such as ECO Canada's Environmental Professional (EP) designation.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in an Account Manager, Business Development Manager, Commercial, Engineering, Project Manager, or equivalent role.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in one of the core industries – mining, energy, or infrastructure.
  • Sales and business development experience with established networks and previous experience building a practice in a new market segment.
