Estate and Trust Account Manager

At Raymond James, we innovate, we collaborate, we strategize, we execute, and we enhance together.

Solus Trust Company (ST), a subsidiary of Raymond James Ltd. (RJL), stands as Canada's premier independent investment dealer, providing exceptional investment solutions tailored to the wealth management needs of Canadians. ST specializes in delivering personalized estate, trust, and agency services to RJL clients, correspondent services clients, and those referred through Centers of Influence (COIs) and other financial institutions.

What is the significance of this role within the organization?

As a member of the Trust Operations Team, the Estate and Trust Account Manager will report directly to the Associate Vice-President of Trust Operations. This role requires a goal-oriented team player adept at managing a portfolio of estate and trust accounts while serving as a mentor to Trust Administrators. You will be instrumental in ensuring the consistent delivery of exceptional service to our partners and their clients, while also fostering robust relationships with both internal RJL and external COI partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the timely, accurate, and professional administration of estate, trust, and power of attorney accounts (both fiduciary and agency);
  2. Take ownership and demonstrate accountability for resolving client and partner inquiries and concerns efficiently;
  3. Exercise discretion as permitted in the will, trust agreement, or power of attorney documents for clients where ST has been granted authority;
  4. Collaborate with Compliance, Operations, Legal, and other relevant business lines to address system, administrative, risk management, and legal issues related to account administration;
  5. Engage in audit activities, including business line oversight, internal audits, and regulatory examinations as necessary;
  6. Contribute to discussions regarding discretionary decisions on behalf of ST;
  7. Participate in the development, modification, and implementation of policies and procedures as needed;
  8. Cultivate strategic relationships with COIs, including lawyers, accountants, and financial advisors, aiming to enhance their understanding and collaboration with our trust services for the benefit of their high-net-worth clients;
  9. Undertake additional duties and projects as required.

What can you anticipate from us?

Our most significant investment is in our people. Upon eligibility, RJL offers flexible work arrangements, a competitive compensation package, and a comprehensive benefits program. Our benefits include health coverage, a RRSP matching program, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off, volunteer days, discretionary bonuses, tuition reimbursement, and much more. We also promote internal advancement and community engagement.

What do we expect from you?

  1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in the estate and trust industry;
  2. Preference for experience managing estate, trust, and power of attorney accounts;
  3. Experience working with high-net-worth clients and their wealth advisors;
  4. Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and independently;
  5. Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills to identify and resolve diverse, complex, and ambiguous issues in a timely and practical manner;
  6. Comprehensive knowledge of estate, trust, and power of attorney laws;
  7. A university degree in a related field;
  8. STEP or MTI designation is considered an asset;
  9. Occasional intra-provincial travel may be required.

We encourage our associates at all levels to:

  1. Pursue professional growth and inspire others to do the same;
  2. Collaborate effectively to achieve desired outcomes;
  3. Make timely, pragmatic decisions with the client’s best interests in mind;
  4. Take ownership and hold themselves and others accountable for delivering meaningful results;
  5. Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the company.

At Raymond James, we honor, value, and respect the uniqueness, experiences, and backgrounds of all our associates. When associates bring their authentic selves to work, our organization, clients, and communities thrive. This is part of our people-first culture. Our company is an equal opportunity employer and makes all employment decisions based on merit and business needs.
