Job Description - Trust Officer

Position Overview

The Trust Officer plays a pivotal role within the Trust Operations Team at Raymond James Financial, a leading independent investment dealer in Canada. This position is integral to delivering exceptional estate, trust, and agency services to a diverse clientele.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the precise and professional administration of estate, trust, and power of attorney accounts, ensuring compliance with fiduciary standards;
  2. Demonstrate accountability by efficiently resolving inquiries and concerns from clients and partners;
  3. Utilize discretion as outlined in client documents, ensuring the best interests of clients are upheld;
  4. Collaborate with various departments, including Compliance and Legal, to address administrative and legal matters related to account management;
  5. Engage in audit processes, contributing to internal and regulatory reviews as necessary;
  6. Participate in discussions regarding discretionary decisions affecting client accounts;
  7. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency;
  8. Build and maintain strategic relationships with Centers of Influence, including legal and financial professionals, to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing;
  9. Undertake additional duties and projects as assigned.

Candidate Expectations

  1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in the estate and trust sector;
  2. Experience managing estate, trust, and power of attorney accounts is preferred;
  3. Proficiency in working with high-net-worth clients and their advisors;
  4. Strong communication skills with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently;
  5. Exceptional analytical skills to navigate complex issues effectively;
  6. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws regarding estates, trusts, and powers of attorney;
  7. A university degree in a related field is required;
  8. Professional designations such as STEP or MTI are advantageous;
  9. Willingness to travel within the province as needed.

Salary Range

Compensation for this role ranges from $75,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience, plus performance-based bonuses.
