Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement transportation policies and procedures to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of district-owned vehicles, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Manage the transportation budget, ensuring cost-effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Supervise and evaluate transportation staff, providing training and development opportunities to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Collaborate with school administrators and other district departments to ensure seamless transportation services.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe transportation environment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as transportation management or a related field.
  • Three years of supervisory experience in transportation operations, preferably in public education.
  • Five years of bus driver experience.
  • Certification through the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation or the Texas Association of School Business Officials.
Working Conditions:

The Director of Transportation will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong organizational and communication skills. The position will involve frequent travel to district sites, as well as occasional evening and weekend work.
