Role Overview

The Director of Contractual Affairs will lead a dedicated team responsible for reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and interpreting contract terms to secure optimal conditions for the organization, mitigate project risks, and uphold our contractual rights. We seek a seasoned leader with extensive experience in EPC capital projects.

Key Responsibilities

The role encompasses three primary areas:

  1. Lead a team of Contract Managers in proposal preparation, including contract revisions, internal approvals, and negotiations with clients;
  2. Provide contractual guidance to the proposal team and Contract Managers on escalated risks and commercial issues during the tendering and negotiation phases;
  3. Support and lead negotiations with clients on significant projects as needed;

Project Execution Duties:

  1. Oversee contract management processes across business segments;
  2. Offer expertise in contract interpretation and assist project teams in managing deviations (change orders, claims, amendments, etc.);
  3. Support project teams in negotiations regarding major claims and changes;
  4. Establish annual goals and objectives for the department;
  5. Prepare resource planning for the team;
  6. Conduct performance evaluations for team members;
  7. Collaborate with HR on all team-related HR matters (recruitment, employee transitions, compensation, retention, career development, etc.);
  8. Lead, mentor, and develop the contract management team in partnership with HR.

  • 10 to 15 years of experience in contract administration;
  • A degree in Commerce, Administration, Engineering, or a related field;
  • Proven experience in drafting and negotiating complex supply and purchase agreements;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
  • In-depth knowledge of business law, including commercial and contract principles;
  • Experience in the hydroelectric or construction sectors is advantageous;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
