About the Role

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a highly skilled Pension and Benefits Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will be responsible for administering our corporate benefits and pension plans, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to employees on pension and benefits-related matters, including service buy-backs, disability options, retirement, and leave of absence policies.
  • Collaborate with management and HR to resolve pension and benefits-related issues and concerns, ensuring compliance with all financial and administrative regulations.
  • Develop and implement plans to ensure timely and accurate processing of pension and benefits-related tasks, meeting all deadlines set by external organizations and government agencies.
  • Work closely with the Payroll department to ensure accurate enrollment of employees in pension and benefits plans, and to prevent under or over payments.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in pension and benefits legislation and service offerings, ensuring that our plans remain compliant and effective.
  • Reconcile payment remittances to ensure accuracy and completeness, and complete required journal entries as needed.
  • Assist the Manager, Payroll, Pensions and Benefits with ad-hoc reports and projects as required.
  • Partner with Human Resources and Organizational Development to ensure that all employee documentation, including letters of offer and resignation/termination, are accurate and complete.
Requirements
  • Two-year college-level diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance/Accounting, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in pension and benefits administration.
  • Completion of or working towards a certification in a related field, such as CEBS, GBA, RPA, or PCP, is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Nunavut, its land, language, and culture is an asset.
  • The ability to speak Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, and/or French is an asset.
What We Offer

The Government of Nunavut offers a competitive salary range of $80,161.48 to $91,616.04 per year, plus a northern living allowance of $24,281.00 per annum. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined-benefit pension program, and subsidized staff housing. This position is included in the Nunavut Employees' Union.

Preference will be given to Nunavut Inuit.
