About the Role

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a highly skilled Pension and Benefits Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will be responsible for administering our corporate benefits and pension plans, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to employees on pension and benefits-related matters, including service buy-backs, disability options, retirement, and leave of absence policies.
  • Collaborate with management and HR to resolve pension and benefits-related issues and concerns, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and laws.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure timely and accurate processing of pension and benefits-related tasks, including new hire documentation, termination processing, and remittances.
  • Work closely with payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee benefits and pension deductions.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in pension and benefits legislation and service offerings, ensuring that our plans remain compliant and competitive.
  • Reconcile payment remittances to ensure accuracy and prevent under or over payments.
  • Assist with ad-hoc reports and data analysis as required.
Requirements
  • Two-year college-level diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance/Accounting, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in pension and benefits administration.
  • Knowledge of Nunavut's land, language, and culture an asset.
  • Ability to speak Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, and/or French an asset.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,161.48 to $91,616.04 and a northern living allowance of $24,281.00 per annum. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined-benefit pension program. In addition, subsidized staff housing is available for this position. This position is included in the Nunavut Employee's Union.

Preference will be given to Nunavut Inuit.
