Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated and proactive individuals to join our team as Cellar Hand II at Arterra Wines Canada, Inc.. This role is perfect for those who excel in collaborative settings and prefer engaging in hands-on activities throughout their workday.

Our winery operates as a comprehensive service provider, managing processes from grape harvest to final product distribution. We pride ourselves on producing award-winning wines and fostering a supportive and cooperative workplace that encourages growth and career advancement.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Grape handling: Reception of grapes and juice, destemming, crushing, and pressing processes.
  • Fermentation oversight: Conducting inoculations, adding nutrients, sampling, performing pump overs, punch downs, monitoring sugar levels, and managing the removal of fermenters.
  • Cellar tasks: Engaging in barrel work, racking, transferring products, blending, and adding necessary components.
  • Sanitation duties: Cleaning tanks and barrels, along with maintaining overall cleanliness of the facility and equipment.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols as outlined in standard operating procedures.
  • Completing work orders and ensuring compliance with operational standards.
  • Safely operating cellar forklifts and other winery machinery (training will be provided).
  • Managing inventory effectively.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strong focus on quality and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Candidates should be hands-on, reliable, and self-motivated.
  • Problem-solving skills and basic logistics knowledge are essential.
  • Willingness to be trained in confined space entry protocols.
  • Familiarity with winery cellar operations is preferred.
  • Strong teamwork and customer service abilities.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends.
  • Capability to perform mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain an organized workspace.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 55 lbs.
