Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated and proactive individuals to join our team as Cellar Hand II at Arterra Wines Canada, Inc.. This role is perfect for those who excel in collaborative settings and enjoy engaging in hands-on activities throughout their workday.

Our winery operates as a comprehensive service provider, managing everything from grape harvest to final product distribution. We pride ourselves on producing award-winning wines and fostering a supportive and cooperative workplace that encourages professional growth and advancement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Grape Processing: Involves receiving grapes and juice, destemming, crushing, and pressing.
  • Fermentation Oversight: Includes inoculations, nutrient additions, sampling, pump overs, punch downs, sugar monitoring, and cleaning fermenters.
  • Cellar Operations: Tasks include barrel work, racking, product transfers, blending, and adding necessary components.
  • Sanitation Practices: Responsible for cleaning tanks, barrels, and general upkeep of the facility and equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols as outlined in standard operating procedures.
  • Complete work orders and ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Operate cellar forklifts and other winery machinery safely (training provided).
  • Manage inventory effectively.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
  • Candidates should be hands-on, reliable, and self-motivated.
  • Good problem-solving skills and basic logistics knowledge are essential.
  • Must be able to undergo training for confined space entry procedures.
  • Familiarity with winery cellar operations is preferred.
  • Excellent teamwork and customer service abilities.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Maintain an organized workspace.
  • Capability to lift up to 55 lbs.
