Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated and proactive individuals to join our team as Cellar Hand II at Arterra Wines Canada, Inc.. This role is perfect for those who excel in collaborative settings and enjoy engaging in hands-on activities throughout their workday.

Our winery operates as a comprehensive facility, managing everything from grape harvest to final product distribution. We pride ourselves on producing award-winning wines and fostering a supportive and cooperative workplace that encourages professional growth and advancement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Grape processing tasks including reception, destemming, crushing, and pressing of grapes and juice.
  • Management of fermentation processes: performing inoculations, adding nutrients, sampling, conducting pump overs, punch downs, monitoring sugar levels, and cleaning fermenters.
  • General cellar operations: barrel management, racking, transferring products, blending, and adding necessary components.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in the cellar: thorough cleaning of tanks, barrels, and overall winery equipment.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols as outlined in standard operating procedures.
  • Completing work orders and ensuring compliance with operational standards.
  • Operating cellar forklifts and other winery machinery safely (training will be provided).
  • Managing inventory effectively.

Job Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A strong commitment to quality and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Candidates should be hands-on, reliable, and self-motivated.
  • Basic problem-solving skills and logistical understanding are essential.
  • Willingness to be trained in confined space entry protocols.
  • Familiarity with winery cellar operations is preferred.
  • Strong teamwork and customer service capabilities.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to maintain an organized workspace.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
