POSITION: Security Officer

LOCATION: Kingston District

WORKING HOURS:

  • Full-Time & Part-Time
  • Rotating, Varied Shifts
  • Availability for days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and potential unscheduled call-ins may be required by the district Supervisor/Manager.

PAY RATE: $18.75 to $22.50 per hour

ONGOING REQUIREMENT: This position is continuously available.

JOB OVERVIEW:
The Security Officer will report to the Commissionaire Site Supervisor/District Manager, ensuring the effective and efficient execution of security responsibilities at the designated site.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Strong interpersonal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to communicate calmly and confidently in various situations.
  • Professional interaction with individuals in a concise manner.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality for both Commissionaires and clients.
  • Proficiency in utilizing proprietary software relevant to the designated site/client.
  • Physical capability to conduct vehicle or foot patrols across site locations.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with secure networks and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
  • Experience with online scheduling applications.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED:

Reliability Status (Minimum 5 consecutive years of residency in Canada).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Professionally represent the Commissionaires and the client at all times, including personal conduct and appearance.
  • Stay informed about and adhere to all Commissionaires policies and Terms & Conditions of Employment.
  • Maintain familiarity with all client and site Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and post instructions.
  • Understand all site security systems (including CCTV, gate controls, and alarm systems) and related procedures.
  • Provide assistance and information to site personnel, visitors, and the public as necessary.
  • Engage routinely with site personnel, visitors, contractors, and the general public.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, coordinating with emergency services as needed.
  • Manage the issuance and return of keys, ensuring compliance with key control procedures.
  • Oversee the distribution and collection of access control passes and maintain logs.
  • Provide telephone and counter services as required.
  • Conduct foot and vehicle patrols as necessary.
  • Perform escort services as directed by client site instructions or Commissionaires SOPs.
  • Maintain a daily log of activities.
  • Report unusual site activities to the appropriate supervisor/client, including actions taken.
  • Generate necessary security and incident reports.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Site/District Supervisor and the client.
  • Execute any other security-related duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor/District Manager or as requested by the client.
