Laboratory Patient Care Technician

LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual to fulfill a dual role primarily as a Laboratory Patient Care Technician and secondarily as a Mobile Phlebotomy Technician.
Covid-19 vaccinations and a booster shot are mandatory for this position.
This is a part-time position with flexible shifts, offering up to 20 hours per week. A valid driver's license, vehicle, and phlebotomy experience are required.
In the Laboratory Patient Care Technician role, your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming patients, gathering necessary information, explaining the specimen collection process, and ensuring compliance with test protocols prior to specimen collection.
- Conducting phlebotomies, connecting/disconnecting Holter monitors, and performing ECG tracings.
- Executing special test collections, including medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, while completing all related documentation.
- Maintaining client relationships by addressing inquiries and following up on requests.
- Performing data entry for patient demographics, requisition details, and other information pertinent to processing test results.
- Preparing specimens for transport and testing.
The ideal candidate will prioritize exceptional customer service and effectively relate to patients and clients, even in high-pressure situations. Key attributes include: empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, and problem-solving abilities. Additional requirements include:
- Graduation from an accredited Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
- Proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
Our Mobile Phlebotomy Technicians play a crucial role in providing on-site patient care in various settings, including private residences and healthcare facilities. This dynamic and fulfilling position allows you to build meaningful relationships with patients and witness the positive impact you have on their healthcare outcomes.
In the Mobile Phlebotomy Technician role, your duties will encompass:
- Coordinating a daily schedule of visits to collect specimens as per physician requests, optimizing your route based on courier times, specimen integrity, and travel requirements.
- Performing phlebotomies, connecting/disconnecting Holter monitors, and conducting ECG tracings.
- Collecting and delivering specimens to designated laboratories for analysis.
- Accessioning, spinning, separating, and preparing specimens for transport to reference labs as needed.
- Scheduling patient appointments, gathering necessary information, explaining the specimen collection process, and ensuring adherence to test protocols.
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals regarding patient concerns, scheduling changes, specimen collection procedures, and other relevant matters.
- LifeLabs seeks an empathetic and adaptable individual capable of delivering outstanding customer service and relating to patients in challenging situations. Do you possess:
