Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Lab Patient Technician to join our team at LifeLabs. As a key member of our clinical support team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lab Patient Technician Role:
    • Collect and process patient specimens for laboratory testing
    • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings
    • Collect and deliver specimens to designated labs for testing
    • Accession, spin, separate, and prepare specimens for transport to reference labs as required
    • Book patient appointments, request required information from patients, and explain the specimen collection process
    • Liaise with doctors, facility staff, and CCAC staff regarding patient problems, changes in scheduling, specimen collection procedures, and other matters
  • Mobile Lab Patient Technician Role:
    • Organize a daily schedule of visits to facilities and private residences to collect specimens as per physicians' requests
    • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings
    • Collect and deliver specimens to designated labs for testing
    • Accession, spin, separate, and prepare specimens for transport to reference labs as required
    • Book patient appointments, request required information from patients, and explain the specimen collection process
    • Liaise with doctors, facility staff, and CCAC staff regarding patient problems, changes in scheduling, specimen collection procedures, and other matters
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Excellent communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of people
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to think quickly on your feet
  • Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and access to a vehicle
  • Satisfactory criminal reference check
