Reporting directly to the Dean of Sciences, the successful applicant will take on a leadership role, guiding part-time Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) and providing essential support to faculty and students within the Veterinary Sciences program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure facility support, including the maintenance of equipment;

• Offer technical guidance and assistance to the Full-Time 9-month Veterinary Technician and part-time kennel duty supervisors, as well as students, which includes scheduling and overseeing veterinary sciences students during kennel duties;

• Manage the care of program animals, which involves sourcing animals, overseeing their medical treatment (under the guidance of the colony veterinarian), maintaining medical records, and coordinating their end-of-year adoption or return;

• Act as the Animal Care Committee (ACC) Coordinator, responsible for organizing site visits and maintaining documentation for our Canadian Committee of Animal Care (CCAC) accreditation, including protocols, standard operating procedures, and animal usage reporting;

• Oversee purchasing and inventory management;

• Assist in laboratory tasks, such as preparing specimen samples prior to classes.

Qualifications:

• A two-year diploma in Veterinary Technology;

• Must be a registered member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (RVT);

• A minimum of three years of experience in a clinical setting or equivalent experience working with animals.
