LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is in search of a dedicated and compassionate individual to fill the role of Laboratory Patient Care Technician with a focus on providing excellent patient service.

Covid-19 vaccinations and a booster shot are mandatory for this position.

This is a part-time position offering flexible shifts, with a maximum of 20 hours per week. A valid driver's license and vehicle, along with phlebotomy experience, are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients and gather necessary information, clarifying the specimen collection process and ensuring adherence to testing protocols.
  • Conduct phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
  • Execute specialized test collections, including medical/legal drug screenings and paternity tests, while completing the required documentation.
  • Maintain strong client relationships by addressing inquiries and following up on requests.
  • Input patient demographics and requisition information accurately into the system.
  • Prepare specimens for transportation and subsequent testing.

The ideal candidate will prioritize exceptional customer service and demonstrate the ability to connect with patients in high-pressure situations. Essential qualities include: empathy, adaptability, and strong problem-solving skills. Additional requirements include:

  • Completion of an accredited Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.

Our Mobile Laboratory Technicians play a vital role in delivering on-site patient care across various settings, including private residences and healthcare facilities. This dynamic and fulfilling position allows you to build meaningful relationships with patients and witness the positive impact of your work on their health outcomes.

In the Mobile Laboratory Technician role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Scheduling daily visits to collect specimens as per physician requests, optimizing your route for efficiency.
  • Performing phlebotomies, connecting/disconnecting Holter monitors, and conducting ECG tracings.
  • Collecting and transporting specimens to designated laboratories for analysis.
  • Accessioning, spinning, separating, and preparing specimens for transport as needed.
  • Booking patient appointments and ensuring all necessary information is gathered prior to specimen collection.
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals regarding patient issues, scheduling changes, and specimen collection protocols.
