About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Taper to join our team at BDS Drywall Ltd. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality drywall installation and finishing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints to achieve a smooth finish.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for drywall installation.
  • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners and ensure a professional finish.
  • Fabricate and install drywall components, including joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks.
  • Mix plaster ingredients to the desired consistency for a seamless finish.
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coats to dry to prevent any imperfections.
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound for a secure bond.
  • Attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring to provide a solid base for drywall installation.
  • Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets.
  • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied.
  • Erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms to ensure safe and efficient work.
Work Environment

As a Drywall Taper at BDS Drywall Ltd, you will work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality and safety. You will be required to work at heights, in dusty conditions, and in noisy environments.

Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience in drywall installation and finishing is an asset.
  • Ability to work at heights, in dusty conditions, and in noisy environments.
  • Flexibility and reliability to meet the demands of the job.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and work in a physically demanding environment.
