About the Job

Welcome Drywall & Construction Ltd is seeking a skilled Drywall Taper to join our team. As a Drywall Taper, you will be responsible for applying successive coats of compound and sanding seams and joints to ensure a smooth finish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Surface Preparation: Clean and prepare surfaces for drywall installation, including cutting and installing metal corner beads to protect exterior corners.
  • Compound Application: Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife, and smooth out excess compound to create a seamless finish.
  • Taping and Embedding: Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound to create a strong bond.
  • Installation and Finishing: Attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring, cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets, and install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied.
  • Scaffolding and Safety: Erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms to ensure safe working conditions.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work at heights, in dusty and noisy conditions.
  • Work Setting: Willingness to relocate and relocation costs covered by employer.
  • Physical Demands: Bending, crouching, kneeling, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Personal Suitability: Flexibility, reliability, and ability to work under pressure as a team player.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Experience as a Drywall Taper or in a related field is an asset.
  • Language: Fluency in English is required.
  • Work Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week.
